Our Home

Moving was hard work and draining, but we had so many people help with the packing/unpacking and moving part that it made it that much easier. Thank you everyone who helped we couldn't have done it without you! It is nice to be here and settled so I thought I would post some pictures of our new "home".
Here is the front of the "row homes"
Here is our row home with our lovely camping chairs on the porch. Everyone hangs out on their porch in this city.
This is the entrance to our home.
These stairs lead down to the basement and it is so scary and stinky down there.

And of course it has the creepiest toilet in the open- WEIRD! Supposedly the old steel workers would come in the basement after work and clean up down there, thus a toilet.

Thank goodness it is nice and big and empty to fit all of our stuff.

Our first washer and dryer which I love having!

This room is off the entrance hall and it is supposed to be a family room, but we made it our dining room/misc room.

Here is our family room that was supposed to be the dining room.

This is the door from the kitchen into our "backyard". The yards here are so small because of the closeness of houses, but we are thankful for Pailsey to have some grass.
Here is our kitchen that we have packed full with different things.

The stairs leading upstairs are long and very skinny so it was an adjustment to go up and down them without falling!
Here is our bedroom at the top of the stairs.

There are only 2 closets in this whole house so that made it interesting to put away clothes. Above is what they look like.
I never appreciated central air since I have always had it but boy do we miss it! We are lucky to have to window units in our house.
Here is our guest room. PLEASE come visit!
At the end of the hall upstairs is Paisley's room.

Last, but not least our HUGE bathroom. Having one in the house makes it interesting, but I will never be desperate enough to use the toilet in the basement!
Our long hallway upstairs from Paisley's room to our room at the end. The homes in Pittsburgh are deep and not very wide, I guess to fit as many homes in as possible. (If that makes sense)

Your home looks great Laurel. You have done a wonderful job putting everything together. I am happy for you and Brady and Paisley. Even though the rowhouse is old, it is just perfect because of your neighbors and friends. I love it!!! Miss you so much. Thanks for posting so everyone could see your new home.

So cute! I'm so glad you have it decorated and set up. Makes it feel like your home now. I'm glad you are enjoying it. Oh, and I would never use the toilet in the basement. So strange!! I bet Brady will though, guys don't seem to care. Maybe he can turn that area into his Man's room!!:)

That is so cute. I love it you guys. Is it sad that it is more put together than mine. I think so. Someday. Good luck to both of you. You'll do awesome.

I love the toilet in the basement, that is so random, and really kinda gross! I'm glad you guys are all settled, it really looks cute! Hope everything keeps going good for you guys!

Love the toilet in the dungeon (that is my name for our creepy basement). We have a dungeon toilet in New York and I never understood why. Ours looks about as good (or gross) as yours does. Needless to say, Steve uses our dungeon toilet on his way out of the house if need be. One more word of advice when it comes to dungeons...watch out for martians. I found a specimen mixture of caterpillar and centipede by our washing machine. I almost refuse to do the laundry now! The house looks great. You have really made it a home. Enjoy it!

I love it! Looks like you are already settled and having a fun time. We were in a row home just like that in Michigan at grad school. We didn't have the front porch though. You are going to love that...especially this fall!

You are so cute Laurel! Your "home" as you say reminds me of my "home" in Connecticut and for that matter our house we are renting right now quirky but cute, and I DO mean that you did a fabulous job with what you were given :) ( I don't blame you for not wanting to use the toilet) I invited you to see my blog at both email addresses so you should be able to check it out now. Paisley is SO CUTE!
